# Cookie And Session

## Cookie

### 쿠키란?

웹브라우저에서 서버로 데이터를 요청하면, 서버측에서는 알맞은 로직을 수행한 후 데이터를 웹브라우저에 응답한 후 서버는 웹브라우저와 **관계를 종료**한다.(http 프로토콜 특징)

**연결이 끊겼을 때 어떤 정보를 지속적으로 유지하기 위한 수단으로 쿠키를 사용**한다. **쿠키는 서버에서 생성하며, 서버가 아닌 클라이언트측에 특정 정보를 저장한다**. 서버에 요청할 때 마다 쿠키의 속성값을 참조 또는 변경할 수 있다.

쿠키는 4kb로 용량이 제한적이며, 300개까지 데이터 정보를 가질 수 있다.

쿠키 생성(서버) → 속성 설정 →response객체에 탑재 순서로 진행된다.

쿠키 삭제는 유효기간 setMaxAge를 0으로 설정하고 속성 변경한 것을 response 객체에 적용하면된다.

쿠키는 보안상의 문제가 있을 수 있다. 해킹과 같은 하지만 꼭 알고 있어야하는 개념이다.

## 세션

### 세션이란?

세션도 쿠키와 마찬가지로 서버와의 관계를 유지하기 위한 수단이다.

단, 쿠키와 달리 클라이언트의 특정 위치에 저장되는 것이 아니라, **서버상에 객체로 존재한다.** (쿠키는 로컬상에 저장되기 때문에 보안에 취약하다.)따라서 **세션은 서버에서만 접근이 가능하여 보안이 좋고, 저장할 수 있는 데이터에 한계가 없다.**

로그인과 같이 정보를 저장할 때 많이 사용된다.

### 문법

세션은 클라이언트의 요청이 발생하면 자동으로 생성된다. session이라는 내부 객체를 지원하여 세션의 속성을 설정할 수 있다.

session.getAttribute()는 **Object타입으로 반환**된다. 변환이 필요하다.

세션은 로그인 정보를 유지하는데 있어서 가장 많이 사용한다.

## Session vs Cookie

세션은 서버의 자원을 사용하기때문에 무분별하게 만들다보면 서버의 메모리가 감당할 수 없어질 수가 있고 속도가 느려질 수 있기 때문에 주의해야한다.
